Grand Opening Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Over 800 guests attended the Grand Opening of the new Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on February 9. The event celebrated the completion of the iconic Mecanoo-designed hotel. The party was staged in the 42-metre atrium lobby, which was decorated with large white balloons.

“With Mecanoo’s dynamic design and the interiors by The Gallery HBA, this hotel is the benchmark for the next generation of airport hotels,” said Simon Vincent, President EMEA for Hilton Worldwide. He also quoted what one of the guests had told him: “This is not an airport hotel, but the gate to The Netherlands”.

In the Blue Paper: The Rise of the Airport Hotel, published by Hilton Worldwide, the company said: “With the recent opening of Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, we’ve taken a giant step forward, launching an airport hotel that will change travelers’ ideas—and even challenge their assumptions—on what an airport hotel can offer in comfort, amenities, services and food.”

Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was developed by Schiphol Real Estate and has 433 guestrooms, a conference centre, spa, restaurant and bar. A covered walkway, the Traverse, connects the hotel to the airport terminals.
