Transformance: Francine Houben on Libraries, Mobility and Learning

27.05.2019 - Events

Join Francine Houben, Founding Partner and Creative Director of Mecanoo, for the keynote “Learning as Part of our Daily Life” Wednesday 29th May, 9:50h at the Learning Environments Australasia 19th Annual Conference, Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre, Australia.

Francine's internationally acclaimed work includes theatres, museums, libraries, neighbourhoods, housing, and parks. Currently, she is working on the renovations of the New York Public Library and the central library of Washington, DC – originally designed by Mies van der Rohe.

Francine will talk about learning in schools and in particular libraries, which in her opinion, are and should be a centre for learning, information, and culture that unites people of all ages and backgrounds. She will also discuss learning and mobility, using Mecanoo’s collaboration with Dutch Railways on the interior design for the "train of the future'.
