HOME Arts Centre in Manchester is one of 17 projects shortlisted for the RIBA North West Awards. The multifunctional venue for theatre, cinema and visual arts opened in May last year, attracting an estimated 28,000 people over the bank holiday opening weekend.
Located at the cultural heart of one of Manchester’s largest areas of development, HOME allows for the commissioning, production and presentation of critically engaged and technically complex artistic projects, as well as the hosting of large scale cultural events. Its restaurant and bar have been a popular new Manchester hot spot for a meal or a glass of wine after work.
The flexible gallery space on the ground floor is currently displaying Incidents of Travel in the Multiverse, a multidisciplinary exhibition on the works by AL and AL.
All shortlisted buildings will now be assessed by a regional jury. Regional winners will be announced in April.
