Dutch Masters at Pakhuis de Zwijger: Francine Houben meets Hesje Andersson
21.11.2016 - Events
Francine Houben will be the main guest of the 13th instalment of Dutch Masters at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam, Monday 28 November, 2016. Dutch Masters is a monthly programme in which Dutch designers, creative makers and storytellers talk about their career and sources of inspiration. Each Dutch Masters is asked to introduce a fresh and promising Dutch Talent.
The event will start with a screening of 'A legacy of Mies and King', a documentary following Francine during the renovation of the Public Library of Washington D.C. Afterwards, moderator Jörgen Tjon A Fong will talk with Francine about her aspirations as an architect, the projects she works on, and her vision on the city.
As Dutch Talent, Francine has invited papercutting artist Hesje Andersson. Hesje’s bright figurative work is cut out of black, blue and white paper. She studies her subjects thoroughly in order to tell interesting visual stories, reducing complex theme to simple powerful shapes, stripped of all distractions. The papercuttings are subsequently transferred into other materials and used as part of interior designs.
The event is in English.
Free admission, but reservation required.
