The HUBB furniture series, which was created by Mecanoo and Gispen won the ARC17 Award in the category of Furniture during the awards ceremony yesterday, 30th of November in the Kauwgomballenfabriek in Amsterdam, an initiative of the Architect and SV. The jury, under the direction of architect Michiel Hofman, selected the projects from a record number of one hundred entries.
The collaboration between Mecanoo and Gispen appears to be again a prize-winning match. Early this year HUBB was awarded with the Red Dot Award. This prestigious design prize is awarded annually to innovative products that excel in terms of quality.
HUBB consists of various elements with a seemingly straightforward basic shape which can be linked and form endless combinations and variations within a learning environment. The modular system allows for the reconfiguration of HUBB elements when requirements change, making the collection a highly sustainable future-proof interior solution. HUBB, by Mecanoo and Gispen is part of a larger common vision - Learning Environments.
HUBB is unique in both form and materials and is produced according to the principles of the Circular Economy. HUBB allows for easy and durable reuse, should requirements change. This award aims to encourage innovation in design furniture and stimulate work environments.
