Eden Holland will become the Dutch sister of the famous Eden Project in Cornwall. The project's location next to the Floriade site in Almere was decided by the Province of Flevoland and the municipality of Almere. The province and municipality will invest a maximum of 10 million in the project.
Eden Holland’s spectacular greenhouse is surrounded by thematic gardens and a discovery forest. Within the striking greenhouse, visitors will be taken on an interactive expedition through outstanding landscapes, and learn about circularity, ecological balance but also about the social aspects of sustainability.
In the tropical rainforest, you experience the importance of biodiversity. The efficient and sustainable production of food is the main theme of the high-tech agricultural garden.
In the underground world, you can see how fungi and bacteria function. The effects of climate change become visible in the icy polar landscape, and the unique Mars landscape emphasises Earth’s vulnerability from a cosmic perspective.
In the coming period, the plan will be further developed, including the cooperation between Eden Holland and Floriade. Eden Holland is scheduled to open its doors in April 2022, at the same time as the Floriade. Approximately 400,000 visitors are expected each year.
