The Asia-Pacific’s most ambitious, innovative and revelatory real estate projects have been chosen as winners of the MIPIM Asia Awards 2019 – the leading regional property awards otherwise known as the “Oscars of the Asian real estate world” distinguished the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts with the Best Infrastructure Development Award.
“Winning a MIPIM Asia Award has long been established as one of the most prestigious prizes for real estate projects across the APAC region,” said MIPIM Director Ronan Vaspart. “We celebrate the developers, architects, government authorities and other property visionaries who push the boundaries, break the rules, and make unimaginable possibilities the solid realities of our skylines,” he added.
The final Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be decided by a public vote drawn from the 900+ delegates expected to attend MIPIM Asia Summit, with the results to be unveiled at the closing night Awards Gala Dinner ceremony on November 27.
The National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts was recently named by Time Magazine as one of the World's 100 Greatest Places on its 2019 list. Described by the magazine's latest annual list, as the "new home to the largest performing arts center in the world under a single roof," National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, also known as Weiwuying, is the first structure in Taiwan to be named on the list.
The sleek, wave-shaped Weiwuying, which opened in October 2018 following 15 years of construction, is a former Japanese military base turned into the first national theater in southern Taiwan.
Since Weiwuying's opening, the four performance venues inside the center have seen world-class acts, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the German orchestra Berliner Philharmoniker.
Furthermore, the arts centre received an Honorable Mention from the Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards, category Spaces, Place, and Cities, 2019 edition.
