Mecanoo will design a residential tower in the Amsterdam Amstelkwartier for developer Lingotto, in co-operation with Hurks and APF International, of 15,000 m2 with an additional 500 m2 of facilities at street level. Sustainability, in the form of the EPC-norm, was the main criterion for selection.
In accordance with the ambition of the Amsterdam City Council, Lingotto and Mecanoo therefore committed to delivering a climate-neutral design. The main principles for the design are high quality and affordability. The sustainability vision for this location also includes a sustainable building process, smart energy strategy and shared facilities for residents.
In the current market, demand for housing in the middle segment is increasing; @Home Amstelkwartier, as the tower will be named, will be ideally suited for this target audience. Due to its convenient location, accessibility and a wide variety of facilities, the Amstelkwartier has everything to become a bustling neighbourhood.
The final design will be ready in the first quarter of 2015 with construction to start in May of the same year. Completion is scheduled for 2016.
