Mecanoo and Martinez + Johnson Architecture from New York are one of ten teams to have been shortlisted in the process to find an architect for the redesign of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington DC, US. The 37.000 m2 building, originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, opened in 1972 and is listed as a National Historic Landmark.
