In the coming years, the area around Delft Campus station (formerly Delft South) will be developed into a pleasant place where more people can live and work. Together with We Love The City, the Municipality of Delft and property developers BPD, Mecanoo will be working to create a new vibrant station area, transforming it into a safe and modern multimodal transport hub with various functions and where living, meeting and sustainable mobility play a major role.
The ambitions of the municipality are to improve accessibility, accommodation quality, appearance, mobility, social safety and connections in the area. Approximately 15,000 new homes will be built by 2040 and 10,000 new jobs will be created.
The first step is to draw up a vision for the area, due to be ready for summer 2021, with the station being completed in 2023 (designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects). The vision, which will be formed in collaboration with NS, ProRail, TU Delft, the province of South Holland, BDP, local residents and other stakeholders, will form the basis for further plans in the station area, including the station square and the Noordkavel located northwest of Delft Campus station.
