In a unanimous decision on Monday, May 27th, Tilburg’s City Council approved and expressed support for the further development plans for the TextielMuseum. This decision will allow the design team, comprising Mecanoo and ABT, to move forward into the preparatory phase of the project.
The project aims to develop the Mommers-Dröge complex into the TextielMuseum, TextielLab, and TextielCampus, transforming the entire area into a unique Textiel Cluster. The City Council’s approval supports the necessary research and design work, addressing monumental, urban development, mobility, and sustainability enhancements. Additionally, it will facilitate the relocation of internal depots and the centralisation of collections from the TextielMuseum and Stadsmuseum Tilburg.
