Rethinking Healthcare: Mecanoo and Redesigning Psychiatry at Dutch Design Week
17.10.2024 - Events
Mecanoo is contributing to Dutch Design Week (DDW) 2024 in Eindhoven, which runs from 19 to 27 October, as part of the Embassy of Health's exhibition. This initiative encourages visitors to rethink care and human interaction in healthcare. The exhibition demonstrates how design can create more compassionate healthcare environments that balance efficiency with human connection.
Mecanoo and Redesigning Psychiatry's collaboration on the new High Intensive Care (HIC) Centre in Heiloo is one of three projects that exemplify how thoughtful design can support mental healthcare. The approach integrates values such as connection, diversity, and dignity into the built environment, aiming to create a 'healing environment' at all levels.
Arne Lijbers, Partner/Architect at Mecanoo, will be present on 24 October to engage with visitors and share insights into the project, offering an opportunity to understand Mecanoo’s vision for merging architecture with social care to create more inclusive healthcare spaces.
Redesigning Psychiatry, an innovation network of designers, philosophers, healthcare professionals, and experience experts, aims to shape a more resilient mental healthcare system by 2030. They envision a future with new forms of support, environments, and connections across sectors, pushing the boundaries of conventional care.
The Embassy of Health at DDW provides a platform for designers, innovators, and the public to explore new directions in healthcare design. For more information, visit the Dutch Design Week website.
