De Nederlandsche Bank named finalist for the Amsterdam Architecture Award 2025

18.03.2025 - Project updates

The ten nominated projects for the 18th edition of the Amsterdam Architecture Award (AAP) have been announced, and we are proud to share that De Nederlandsche Bank is one of the finalists!

The transformation of De Nederlandsche Bank breathes new life into Duintjer's 1968 building, preserving its architectural essence while setting new benchmarks for sustainability and public engagement. By relocating the bank’s gold stock outside the city, the design unlocks 5,000 m² of new public space, creating a welcoming and transparent environment. A striking new entrance, carved through the former vault, now leads visitors into a reimagined public area featuring an exhibition space, an auditorium, and a light-filled atrium with sculptural staircases.

Sustainability is a top priority in the renovation of De Nederlandsche Bank. Smart and innovative interventions ensure that energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the renovated bank building are 80% lower than before the renovation.

On Wednesday, 11 June 2025, the prestigious AAP awards will be presented to the architect and client behind the most outstanding building project within Amsterdam’s municipal boundaries. Organised by Arcam, the award encourages public dialogue on the city’s evolving architecture.
